For the last six years with Mohammed Hamid at the Star
Workshops in Lewes, E. Sussex. The pots are made in
stoneware. I like decorated pottery, in the majolica
tradition and have been influenced by the work of the
Aldermaston pottery particularly Alan Caiger-Smith and
I have, developed designs based on the broad brush
strokes and calligraphic style typical of that pottery. A
second influence came from a visit to the ceramics
museum in Barcelona where there is a delightful
collection of pottery dating from the fourteenth century
to the present day. Some designs use very old traditional
images used in Spanish pottery. “Recently I have
particularly enjoyed using calligraphy on pots, mostly for
wedding gifts, or other commemorations‚ÄĚ. The pots are all
dishwasher and microwave safe.
