Dave Harrison
Dave Harrison trained at Newcastle and Bath Academy
of Art at Corsham and has for a number of years taught
ceramics at Lewes prison. He also worked on the
sculpture course at the University of Brighton.
In making his work he uses a combination of throwing,
sometimes with altering and hand building. Formal
influence is drawn from a variety of sources from natural
forms to Mesolithic stone tools but in all cases related to
the vessel with greater or lesser abstraction.
Surface treatment is greatly dependant on the chance
effects obtained by Raku glaze firing or low temperature
salt firing with oxides upon a surface which may have
been burnished.
