My ceramic containers for garden and home are
inspired by rock surface, rock pools, lava flow, the sea.
Function in its widest sense has always been a
consideration and most of my recent work is intended
for outdoor use; high fired, frostproof stoneware garden
pieces. They are made to contain candles, plants,
water and birds!! Some hang from tree branches,
others trail ivy from the top of their head.
I work from my cellar in Lewes, a suitably cold, damp
environment. Over the last 40 years making pots has
involved challenge, excitement, sometimes
disappointment, often joy. Drawn to the craft initially
as a personal therapy, I still experience as miraculous
