Jackie Bennett
Jackie’s work is driven by the urge to experiment
and sample yarns – celebrating colour and texture.
She seeks to respond to the environments she finds
herself in, whether urban or rural. Trees are a
constant inspiration, as are buildings. Jackie
weaves and stitches with plant fibres: cotton, hemp,
linen, jute and bamboo as well as wool, silk and
synthetics.
Having completed a Post-graduate Diploma in
Tapestry Weaving at West Dean College in 1997, she continues to learn new textiles techniques, including
embroidery and felt-making. She has worked with
artists, arts organisations and museums throughout
the UK.
